TUSHY Toilet Brush
Role
Project Lead
Overview
TUSHY Brush was designed to reimagine the toilet cleaning experience — replacing shame, waste, and plastic with a sleek, sustainable, and guilt-free solution
The goal was to create a once-per-use brush system that felt hygienic, looked beautiful, and aligned with TUSHY’s brand values
What I Did
Designed a minimalist wand with a claw-actuated mechanism for no-touch cleaning head pickup and disposal
Selected sustainable materials: stainless steel body, bamboo handle, and biodegradable coconut husk pads
Engineered a flushable pad system — eliminating plastic waste without compromising performance
Led user research, competitive analysis, and form exploration to identify opportunities
Created a recurring revenue stream for TUSHY
Looking Back
Rethink Complexity: Future versions could explore a simplified pickup mechanism to reduce internal part count and improve cost efficiency
Expand Material R&D: While coconut husk worked beautifully, I’d explore regional alternatives for scalability and supply chain resilience
Design Criteria
Minimize proximity of hands to toilet water
Zero plastic waste or chemical cleaning agents
Must be a product you don’t want to hide
Scrubber pad should be flushable and made from coconut husk
Mechanism for hands-free pad handling
