Arc

Product
TUSHY Arc Toilet Stool

Role
Project Lead + Senior Industrial Designer

Overview

TUSHY Arc was designed as a slimmer, more affordable alternative to our existing toilet stool, Ottoman

The goal was to offer the same ergonomic benefits in a refined, stackable form that could be manufactured at lower cost — without compromising strength, usability, or aesthetics

What I Did

Designed a one-piece, stackable form that dramatically reduced plastic volume compared to our original ottoman

Engineered for low-cost, single-shot injection molding

Developed a clean design language that elevates form while staying affordable

Built and tested prototypes to refine fit, comfort, and manufacturability

Partnered with engineering to simplify tooling and minimize material waste

Filed a utility patent for the core structure and stacking system

Looking Back

Improve Material Grip: While the matte texture helped visually, integrated tread or rubber feet could further stabilize the stool on slick bathroom floors

Push Plastic Savings Further: Future iterations could explore recycled content or alternative bio-based plastics to continue reducing environmental impact while keeping tooling simple

Ideation and form exploration

I also led the color selection for the initial release of the TUSHY Arc, ensuring the colorways felt modern, neutral, and complementary to a wide range of bathroom styles.

The goal was to create a color palette that was both approachable and elevated—balancing trend awareness with long-term appeal.

Special consideration was given to how each tone would photograph, wear over time, and align with the rest of the TUSHY line.
